Bio

I have a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco/Academic Unit of Serra Talhada, specialist in Environmental Education and Sustainability in the semi-arid region of Pernambuco and a master’s degree in Biodiversity and Conservation with an emphasis on peracarid crustacean ecology from the same institution. I am currently doing my PhD in the Postgraduate Program in Ethnobiology and Nature Conservation, at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, where I seek to understand the effects of the invasion of an exotic grass and nutrient availability on the plant community and of soil arthropods in a regenerating area.

Current research

  • Community Ecology

The first chapter of my thesis will address the ecological face of the process of nutrient addition and the occupation gradient of exotic grass in plant and soil arthropod communities.

  • Seed Rain

In the second chapter, we will investigate how different soil management strategies, the presence of an exotic grass and the addition of nutrients determine the diversity of seeds and soil arthropods as an efficient mechanism for the regeneration of dry forests.

  • Serviços Ecossistêmicos

In the third chapter, we will examine the ecosystem services provided by exotic and native plants to local human populations, integrating ecological and ethnobiological approaches.

It is possible to have a broad understanding of the processes of change in socio-ecological systems and assisting in decision making for the management of the semiarid region with the local population.
